Grand Master Kancho Masaya Kohama Inaugurates New Karate Training Programme at DAC<\/h3>

Thiruvananthapuram : The children with disabilities at the Different Art Centre (DAC), Thiruvananthapuram, astounded Grand Master Kancho Masaya Kohama, founder of the International Shotokan Shobukan Karate Association of Japan (ISSKA), with their confidence, and adaptability. The children impressed Kancho by executing basic karate moves – punches, kicks, and blocks – with remarkable ease and precision during a session held at DAC on Tuesday.<\/p>

With this session, he formally inaugurated the newly launched karate training programme at DAC. Under this initiative, DAC children now have the opportunity to learn karate as part of their regular activities.<\/p>

The audience applauded when Kancho, along with Rahul Raj, a black belt holder with Down Syndrome, demonstrated self-defence techniques. Kancho said he was deeply inspired by the children\u2019s confidence and courage.<\/p>

Kancho introduced the children to the basics of Kata, Kihon, and Kumite. A distinctive feature of the programme is that each child receives individual guidance and training tailored to their ability. To nurture the artistic and athletic talents of children, the Different Art Centre will continue to organise such international collaborative programmes, said DAC Founder and Executive Director Gopinath Muthukad.<\/p>

Muthukad honoured Kancho by adorning him with a shawl and presenting a memento. Fuji Ganga Japan Chapter President Jojo Augustin, Intervention Director Dr. Anil Nair, and Magic Planet Manager Sunil Raj C.K. also attended the function.<\/p>
